Michael A. Gorman, DC, ATC, CSCS

Dr. Michael Gorman is a licensed Chiropractic Physician who is the owner and president of Gorman Optimal Health Solutions, Inc., in Fairless Hills, PA. A native Philadelphian, he received his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from National University of Health Sciences in Lombard, Illinois. He did his undergraduate study in psychology at Shippensburg University, and in sports medicine at West Chester University. Before attending Chiropractic College, Dr. Gorman worked in physical therapy and sports medicine at Holy Redeemer Hospital and in Villanova University’s Sports Medicine Department. While at Villanova, he worked with all the teams, but focused on and traveled with the football and cross country and track teams. He also had varied experiences as a personal fitness trainer designing different strength and conditioning programs for athletes of all levels as well as the average person.

Blending the best of both traditional and alternative medical perspectives into his current practice, Dr. Gorman’s primary diagnostic tool is an advanced specialty called Applied Kinesiology (AK). The science of AK draws from many different therapies, including Chiropractic, osteopathic medicine, acupuncture, clinical nutrition, psychology, and exercise rehabilitation. Through the methods of AK, Dr. Gorman treats the whole person by addressing his or her physical, nutritional, and emotional health; as well as addressing other things that can interfere with health such as electromagnetic pollution, toxicity, and evaluations and treatments for allergies. He uses muscle testing to evaluate the brain and nervous system, which oversees and controls every single function in the human body. He utilizes all traditional diagnostic measures such as X-ray, MRI, blood, urine, hair, and saliva laboratory testing to aid in the assessment of various injuries and conditions. Combining his psychology degree with his certification in Neuro-Emotional Technique (NET), he is also able to very specifically address the now well documented mind-body connection; to positively affect a person’s stress and overall health, as well as peak mental state.

Aside from his private practice, Dr. Gorman is on medical staff at the Institutes for the Achievement of Human Potential, where he helps evaluate and treat brain-injured children through the use of biofeedback and Applied Kinesiology. He loves personal development and is a graduate of the Bucks County Leadership program and Landmark Education’s "Curriculum for Living" and their Leadership program. He takes great pride in the importance of educating his patients on a daily basis, as well as other doctors and the public through his many speaking engagements in the area. Aside from ongoing health and motivational talks at his office, he has lectured at Thomas Jefferson University’s School of Integrative Medicine, Frankford Hospital, The Philly Fit Bash, The Lower Bucks Chamber of Commerce, The Pennsylvania Athletic Trainer's Society, and the Lower Bucks Family YMCA. He has been a teaching assistant for post-graduate courses in Applied Kinesiology, and has participated in a research study to further the scientific validity of Chiropractic. Dr. Gorman also serves on the Board of Directors for the Lower Bucks Family YMCA.

Dr. Gorman has also taken a multitude of additional post-graduate coursework including extensive hours of neurology, acupuncture, clinical nutrition, sports medicine, psychology, pediatrics, cold laser therapy, allergy treatments, and various energy medicine techniques. In addition to Applied Kinesiology, he also holds certifications in Acupuncture and Meridian Therapy, Neuro-Emotional Technique, Athletic Training (ATC), Strength and Conditioning (CSCS), and as a Yoga instructor. Because of the complexity and diverse nature of all of these specialties, along with his traditional sports medicine experience, his passion ranges from treating someone with pain, fatigue, or a serious chronic condition desperately searching for a solution; to the average person who wants to decrease stress and improve their health; all the way up to the most elite athletes looking to prevent injuries and maximize their performance. When not practicing, writing, teaching, or attending seminars himself, he enjoys yoga, running, weight lifting, sports, reading, listening to motivational/inspirational CD’s, and spending time with his friends and family. He and his wife, Kim, have three children: Abby, who is five, AJ, who is three, and Anthony, who is one.
